Marche' "Cartier" Meeks


 

 

Biography

 

Marche' Meeks Sr. is a born native of Los Angeles, California. He started doing music at the age of 11 years old. Working close with a childhood friend, he began his qwest to become a hip hop star. By the age 15, Cartier sparked attention and interest throughout the neighborhood. Unfortunately, this friend was murdered by the time they reached 16. Not broken, but inspired, Marche put his heart and soul into his music which gained attention of a successful neighborhood friend Lamont Bentley, who starred on the hit T.V. show called "Moesha". Working close with Lamont, they formed a group called "Uprise" along with childhood friend Mike “TY ELI” Pearson. The group landed a management deal with Norwood & Norwood. Conflicts within the management company and difference of opinions, caused the group to split after creating a buzz in the music business. Trying to mead broken relationships, Uprise the group, was permanently floored by a fatal accident claiming the life of group's centers piece. This would spark Cartier's solo career that started in the summer of 2001. He dropped his first solo album entitled “The Foundation” which received a huge local buzz. In 2006 a year following the death of close friend, Marche "Cartier" Meeks was back in the studio recording his 2nd indie album called “Cartier The Great”. This project sold 15,000 copies in the U.S and another 5,000 on iTunes. Cartier released his 3rd indie album and a collaboration album with Xo in the summer of 2009 called “Los Lands” and “Intoxicated Luxuries”. That project featured the hit single “Take a Trip” feat. Xo, the video debut on Youtube featuring Kim Kardashian and reached 70,000 views. Cartier went back in the studio to work on his 4th independent album called “Los Lands vol.2” that will be dropping in the summer of 2012. Marche “Cartier” Meeks was Producer and Music Supervisor for a Docufim entitled “LA 2 DA BAY II” NEW WEST ORDER.

This project was scheduled for major release in Fall 2011. He has worked, written, and produced with many artist from Ray J to Famous Fresh. Cartier is currently active in the music/film business and has been for the last 10 years. Marche G’juan Meeks also known as “Cartier” is a graduate student of Los Angeles Recording School and just released his hit singles "MOLLIPOP", "GOLDEN ROSE" and "3RD EYE OPEN" thats available @ iTunes, Emusic, PlayUK and many more music distro website. Also Written/Directed the Docufilm
